Competitively tuned bib shorts for cross-country racing and training with more speed than baggies and far more durability than Lycra.

Product description

Sticks and stones shred lightweight bib shorts, and they’re often unavoidable obstacles on trails. Our XC Bib Shorts balance the breathability and stretch of our road bibs with the thigh-girding protection of ripstop panels on the outer legs. The final construction is the result of prototype testing on the legs of our World Cup riders, who swept the 2017 team standings while assuring us that these are the most breathable abrasion-resistant bib shorts they’ve ever worn.

Technical features

FEATURED FABRICS

The dyneRope tex mapping the outer thighs is 15 times stronger than steel. Calling it “abrasion- or cut-resistant” is an understatement. We also engineered some mechanical stretch into the woven material, and the main body of Type.429 Titanio adds additional race-fit stretch and support in less exposed areas.
CONSTRUCTION/FIT

We adapted our road racing approach to fit, creating a compressive, aerodynamic silhouette that feels restrictive while on foot but becomes a second skin in the riding position.
ENGINEERING

Y7 frame carrier bibTech: the shoulder straps remain wide and flat so as not to restrict shoulder movement and to eliminate any creases under the jersey.
ENGINEERING

MTB-specific leg grippers: a durable strip that provides compression and grip to maintain a perfect fit as you hurtle down hairpin bends or struggle up rocky climbs.
INSERT

Off-Road Insert EVO: a pad with patented elastic interface, with targeted thickness in the back for optimal comfort and support in the most upright position adopted on a mountain bike.
INSERT

goldenGate: seams that secure the pad at the front and back, but allow the pad to follow the movements of your body.
INSERT

ASSOS Waffle: three layers of perforated foam to reduce weight, increase breathability and create a structure that compresses but regains its shape.
